Review William Hill Sportsbook

If you’re from across the pond, the William Hill name is probably familiar to you. The UK company started taking bets-by-mail way back in 1934, before moving to physical casinos in the 1960s. They’ve since expanded into the US: first in Las Vegas, and more recently by partnering with the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City to join the growing online sportsbook competition.

The advantages to working with a trustworthy brand like William Hill are clear: you can assume they know what they’re doing and they’re not going to screw you. However, their online offerings lack some of the pizzaz of newer companies like DraftKings and PointsBet, so bettors in search of excitement might want to look elsewhere.

One area in which the old hand can’t keep up with the young guns is when it comes to sign-up bonuses. William Hill offers new players the opportunity to Get up to a $500 bet on deposit. This pales in comparison to the multi-hundred dollar offers from other sportsbooks… but then again, free money is free money so why look a gift horse in the mouth?

They also offer rotating specials like bonus jackpots and cashback guarantees, depending on which sport and what type of bet you place. A Promotions tab in the William Hill app make these easy to track.

User Experience

The William Hill app is straightforward and easy to use. The smooth experience helps make up for a lack of bells-and-whistles; in fact, that may even be a positive for users who just want to gamble without being assaulted by fancy graphics and animations.

That said, there’s not much design to speak of — it’s all very utilitarian. Gambling is supposed to be fun (on good days), so they could stand to take a pass at the app/website to make it feel less, er… stuffy and British. It doesn’t help that the company’s offerings lack the innovation of a system like PointsBet.

Payment Methods

Deposit into a William Hill account is available by a number of methods; each carries a $20 deposit minimum.

  • PayPal
  • ACH/e-check
  • Credit/debit card
  • Prepaid William Hill card
  • Cash at a William Hill location in NJ (Monmouth Park or Ocean Resort AC)

To withdraw, you can take cash at an in-state William Hill location or return it to the prepaid card. There is currently no option to get money returned directly to a bank account or have a check mailed.

William Hill doesn’t offer obscure sports in the vein of Australian Rules Football like some of their competitors, but otherwise has a pretty good range of American sports:

  • Auto racing
  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Boxing / MMA
  • Football
  • Golf
  • Hockey
  • Soccer
  • Tennis

  • Spreads
  • Money Lines
  • Totals
  • In-game betting
  • Parlays
  • Round Robins
  • Teasers
  • Futures

Customer Service

William Hill is the only online sportsbook with 24-hour customer service — one of the perks of signing up with an established brand. Support is available via Live Chat in the William Hill app, as well as e-mail and phone.
